Many people set goals to get in shape for a particular season or event. But what if

this wasn't a short-term goal? What if it is the beginning of a lifelong journey

toward better health and overall well-being?

KB Kickstart – is a 6-week small group kettlebell training program designed for women in midlife and beyond. What you learn during these 6-weeks will lay the groundwork for getting and staying strong. This might just be the spark that ignites a passion for training for life.

This is also your chance to learn new skills and have fun with like-minded women of similar age and improve your strength, power, and athleticism while doing it.  That’s right – if efficient, fun, impactful, powerful, confidence, and social are words you’d like to associate with exercise, come join us.

What Clients Are Saying!

"Building strength and stability was my goal when I signed up for Tara's KB Kickstart class. Unlike other group classes, Tara breaks down kettlebell techniques in a way that’s easy to understand while always ensuring proper form for everybody, making the workouts both safe and effective. After just six sessions, the entire class was able to complete a full Turkish get-up—an incredibly challenging yet rewarding experience. More importantly, I’ve gained strength and a deeper understanding of weightlifting thanks to her coaching! "

"I joined KB Kickstart because I had been looking for a weight class to improve my strength. I am 59 and have osteopenia. Doctors keep telling me it is more important as we get older for women to do weightbearing exercises. This class offered a convenient solution that is designed specifically for women over 50.I was very impressed by Tara’s expertise. Her careful, step by step instruction and demonstrations and individualized feedback were extremely helpful. I enjoyed learning something new and saw a marked

improvement each week. I now feel confident that I can build strength in a safe, fun manner. I strongly recommend it for anyone interested in learning the proper technique for working with kettlebells. I am looking forward to taking more classes that will build on this introductory one. "

"I approached Kettlebells with some interest and some trepidation. I was recently diagnosed with

osteoporosis (so I knew I had to do something with weights) but I also found the prospect daunting. I knew Tara to be thorough and patient and so I threw caution to the wind and signed up for her KB Kickstart

class. Fortunately, Tara did NOT throw caution to the wind — everything we learned in this 6-week class

was built up incrementally.

While I was in class with some folks with some weight training background, I was never made to feel uncomfortable, and it was always clear that Tara was meeting each of us “where we were.” So, let me say, it’s fun to swing a Kettlebell! It’s exhilarating! In stasis, they’re heavy. But, with your body engaged, and using your muscles correctly, you can make those weights move. I felt, and now believe in the benefit of llifting weights!

Tara began the class at zero — assuming we all knew nothing, but quickly tuned into our individual progress . . . especially helpful was the feedback Tara provided when we sent her videos of ourselves. Tara is incredibly detail-oriented, resourceful, thorough and hard-working. You can feel how hard she’s rooting for each of us to learn. I went from zero to swinging kettlebells and somehow managed what felt like the impossible task of learning the Turkish Get-up!

If you’re remotely intrigued, try it! Tara makes it possible to venture into unknown territory without fear and it’s clear how much she believes in (and embodies) the benefits of weight-training!"

Hi, I'm Tara,

Over the years, my clients and I have used all kinds of equipment: dumbbells, kettlebells, TRX, barbells, rowers, assault bikes, and more. The more I honed my skills, developed knowledge and technique ,and experienced results, the more my passion for kettlebells has grown.

The kettlebell is unmatched in its ability to train for strength, power, mobility, stability, and cardiovascular fitness with minimal time and equipment. As a midlife woman, these are the qualities that allow me to lead an active life in a strong and resilient body. As a mother, entrepreneur, and caregiver life is busy  – a few kettlebells and a bit of time hits multiple muscle groups, boosts energy, and burns calories.  If those reasons aren’t enough, swinging kettlebells and doing Turkish Get Ups make me feel strong, powerful, and just plain awesome. I bet you’ll feel the same.

Staying active and strong is critical to aging well. Kettlebell training is not only great for building lean muscle and burning fat but also for improving mental clarity, balance, coordination, and joint health—all key considerations as we age. It’s time to redefine what aging looks and feels like. Are you in?

For those participating in the In-Person Small Group you will need kettlebells for your At-Home Sessions. Previous participants purchased, borrowed, or used kettlebells at a local gym. Each Live Session builds on the week before with the expectation that you’ll complete one to two at-home practice sessions each week. • Will I fall behind if I miss a Live Session?
No, you’ll find demo videos and instructions for all exercises in the Trainerize App. All Live Sessions will be recorded for those unable to attend or who wish to go back and review live instruction.
  • What if I don’t have time to practice between Live Sessions?
Inevitably life may get in the way. I encourage you to put your Practice Sessions in your calendar, literally, and treat it like any other appointment. Then, if you don’t have time to complete an entire practice session in one go, pick one thing to practice even for 5 minutes or split it up over a couple days. Something is better than nothing. We’ll do our best to keep you moving forward along with the group.
  • What’s a Movement Screen + Baseline Strength Assessment?
It’s a series of movements that take the body through different positions and explore the range of motion at specific joints, famliiarity with basic movement patterns, and strength.
  • What if I’m out of shape or a complete beginner, can I still participate?
Absolutely! We all start somewhere. Instruction includes body weight exercises and modifications to meet you where you are. The movement screen + baseline strength assessment will help determine your starting point.
  • Who is best suited to Get Up + Swing?
Get Up + Swing is designed for women 40 years and older who are new to kettlebells or who have experimented with kettlebell swings or Turkish Get Ups on their own and want instruction and practice to improve their technique.
  • Who is Get Up + Swing NOT intended for?
If you currently struggle to get up and down from the floor easily or have an injury or other major movement limitation, Get Up + Swing is not appropriate for you at this time.
  • What size kettlebells do you recommend?
You’ll need a light (13-18lbs/6-8kg) and a medium size kettlebell (22-30lbs/10-14kg) for the Online Live Sessions and At-Home Practice Sessions. A light dumbbell (10-12#) can be substituted for some exercises. The Movement Screen/Assessment will help determine the appropriate sizes. Recommendations will be provided in the welcome email upon registration.

$350 for online participants or $365.75 (including 4.5% tax) for in-person participants. (Kettlebells not included).
